Objectives
Section titled “Objectives”- Use AI to explore career options by having it interview the student.
- Generate a shortlist of 3 candidate careers with concrete facts: pay, training path, day-in-the-life.
- Treat career advice as claims to verify, not verdicts.
Agenda (60 min)

| 0–5 | Warm-up: we’re now in Phase 2 — same skills, new target. Recap Class 3’s “ask me questions before answering” technique. |
| 5–15 | Mini-lesson: AI as brainstorm partner, not oracle. The career prompt pattern: “Interview me one question at a time about my interests, strengths, things I hate doing, and subjects I don’t mind. Then suggest 5 careers that fit, with a one-line reason for each.” |
| 15–35 | Core activity: students run the interview prompt (iterate — push back where suggestions feel off: “I hate sitting still, cut the desk jobs”). Output: shortlist of 3 careers, then for each: typical pay, education/training path, day-in-the-life, and what people say is hardest. |
| 35–48 | Reality-check pass: for each candidate, ask AI “what would someone hate about this job after 5 years?” — compare with a human answer if any guest/teacher/sibling input exists. Note where AI generalizes from averages. |
| 48–55 | Share circles: 3 careers each, why these; classmates ask one question apiece. |
| 55–60 | Exit ticket: which of the 3 would you defend, and what do you still not know? |
Key terms

- Averages vs. you — AI career advice is trained on aggregates; your constraints are the test.
- Training path — the concrete steps (school, apprenticeship, portfolio) a career demands.
Seven-Question connection
Section titled “Seven-Question connection”Q1 (purpose) — purpose here is exploration, not decision; saying that out loud keeps AI from pretending to be a career counselor. Q6 (value) — did the interview produce options you hadn’t considered, or just Wikipedia summaries?
Homework / log entry
Section titled “Homework / log entry”Log the interview prompts, the AI’s suggestions, and your pushbacks. Pick the one career you’ll fact-check next class — we verify AI career profiles in Class 9.
Teacher notes
Section titled “Teacher notes”- Watch for students outsourcing identity questions; the reframe is “AI surfaces options, you choose what to research.”
- Students with strong existing plans (trades, arts, athletics) get the same tool: have AI surface the pathway and its hidden requirements.
- No BLS work yet — that’s Class 9’s verification mission; today stays divergent.
